More Tests

Well we got the pathology information last week. It was a lymph node with cancer... so.....here we go again. I am going in for a PET scan today. Then we will know a little more on what if any cancer is left or remains.
Tomorrow I have an appointment with the Urologist to see about the results from the Mag 3 renal scan.
I have been getting quite an education on some of the new tests available to us. I am truly amazed what the medical profession is capable of.
Most people I encounter ask me if I am OK. But strangely I feel very calm and know that whatever comes about will be OK. I truly have great faith that God watches over and takes care of what will be done.

back among the living...i think

I am back... I think.
It has been pretty rough around our house for a while.
After we came back from vacation, I thought I had an hernia, I went to get it checked out. They found out it was a tumor. After being poked and prodded tested and checked they finally made an appointment to have it removed.
Mike and I went through the gamete of emotions and prepared ourselves for whatever might happen.

The day arrived for surgery, at 6:30 am we got a call from the hospital to postpone the surgery (the surgeon was stuck in Chicago , all the storms and tornado's grounded all planes).
Well they rescheduled the surgery for 3 days later, I was able to experience the post surgery anxiety twice. We got to the hospital and checked in unscathed.
The nurse had a hard time getting an IV in, I felt like a bruised pin cushion. She finally called in someone else to get the blasted thing in... whew.. that was a milestone. OK every thing was good all the really scary stuff was over. All I needed to do was to sit back and fall asleep and it will all be over.....
OH NO ... the nurse came in and told us my surgeon was just taken in to emergency surgery... he had a bad attack of kidney stones. and thew up in the operating room on the patient before me...
I thought .. I am not leaving this hospital until the blasted thing gets removed. Well a beautiful woman came walking past my area, Mike said "who is that, a pastry chef?" She was dressed in white with a white cap on. After Mike made the crack about the Pastry Chef, she stopped by and smiled at us and introduced herself as Dr. Glens partner and she would be doing my surgery. She had heard what Mike said. How embarrassing.
Everything else went off OK. I am home...sitting upright, and on the mend.
I won't get the pathology report until the end of the week.

Next week I am looking forward to a test called "meg 3 renal scan w/lasik"
They also found my right kidney is about 5 to 6 times larger than normal.
Boy, by the time this is over I am going to learn all sorts of new medical terms!
So I will keep you posted as we learn more.

On the upside, I am off work for a while so I might be able to get a few of the books read I have been putting off!

OK ... SO I am a little bit behind in my posts. I can't really say we have been busier than usual. But we have..
Mike got a new shed delivered in the back yard ...he refers to it as "his dog house" I guess that's why he wants electric and cable out there.


We went to Dover Downs and saw the Tommy Dorsey Band. It was really good, the band leader was an original member of the band, he was 89 years old and wow could he play jazz and swing. Mike and I felt like a couple of youngsters there. I think we were some of the few with a hair color other than grey. But when the music started we saw a startling transformation, the grey hair people started to become young, heck there were even some of them jitterbugging in the isles. The
place was really " rocking" wait wrong era I meant to say "swinging".

After that we found a bit of "luck" in the casino I won $50.00 and Mike won $20.00



We have been enjoying the beauty of spring, our weeping cherry tree this year was beautiful! After living in Wyoming for so long, every year is a treat to see the beautiful variety of plants that grow here. Azaleas, hydrangeas, Camellias, Wisteria, Wegillias, piras japonica ... wow I could go on and on.

Kale is graduating today, getting his associates degree. Mike and I are so proud of him. I cannot believe the determination and hard work he does. Keeping a full time military job, a full school load and his business. He is truly amazing. I could learn alot from him.


Krystal and Cory continue enjoying the "excitement" of their 2 sweet boys. Each time Krystal calls with her stories, I gain so much respect for them. I know she teaches me so much. They say kids learn from their parents, but I would argue with that statement I know, hands down I have learned more from my children that I cold ever teach them. They are my true joy.

Springtime at the Nursery

It's officially Spring!.

The way we tell around here isn't the calender, the temperatures, the robins coming in or even Puxatony Phil. The way they tell at the nursery is when the Tree Spades begin moving. Wow we had a 100 inch Spade come in and dig 100 trees for the new project in Washington DC, National Harborhttp://www.nationalharbor.com/ pretty impressive. The Nursery has come alive, all the activity is amazing. It reminds me of when you watch an ant hill. The constant movement with each ant knowing exactly what needs to be done in order to make the colony succeed.

So Spring is here and life goes on!

Oh Mike is busy too... but this isn't his blog .

He has been finishing up his project putting in well over 50 hours per week. Someday I might just allow him to actually mess up my blog. You can see how he messes up the traffic. I don't want him doing that to my stuff.

Did I tell you ... I am a germ-a-phobe?

Well the majority of the people in my office have the flu.

Argh!!!!!! everyone is dropping off like fies.

So as the good employee that I am I wanted to make sure

to not get sick, so I can help to pick up the slack.

I stopped at the local drugstore (I like to refer to as the germ warfare armory) armed myself with a barrage of weapons, airborne, zicam, germicidal wipes and a variety of herbs and vitamins. The only thing I am missing is a respirator, and latex gloves.

Watch out..germs. I used to be a hunter. You can run but you cannot hide.

Whew glad you didn't hold your breath for that one..

We are home.

Wow what a vacation!!!

I think this one was the best ever. I wanted to share pictures with you so there is a slide show of some of our fun. Hope you enjoy them.

We arrived on Thursday as we checked into our resort, we were greeted with champagne and a concierge to help us with all our needs. The staff made us feel like royalty

Friday we met with a travel person and booked our para sailing and snorkeling trip, Tulum ruins trip and a couples massage. So the rest of the day we relaxed.

Saturday we went on our paradise snorkeling trip. We boarded a catamaran and headed out in the ocean. The coral reef we were snorkeling is the 3rd largest reef in the world (at least that is what the guide told us) Wow! I guess that sums up most of everything. After I got over my fear of drowning and being eaten by a shark, I relaxed and really enjoyed the wonders of the ocean. It was so neat to see the underwater life up close and personal. There was a big eel that I am not sure if I startled him more or vica-versa. I can hardily wait to go again.

After our snorkeling adventure, we boarded a speed boat for para sailing. Mike an I went up together. We could see the island of Cozumel while we were up in the air. What a rush!!!

Sunday - we relaxed....ate....drank.....ate....laid in the sun....relaxed - went to a dinner show it was a Mayan re-enactment of the rituals and sacrifices of the people.

Monday - was our couples massage - we each went to the hydro-therapy spa for an hour, then they led us to the couples massage area. Total relaxation. Mike was very impressed, I think he actually enjoyed it more than me. After our massage we went for a Japanese meal - Mike was still so relaxed he actually ate sushi. Talk about acting like a totally different person. Mike never fails to surprise me.

Tuesday - we went to Tulum - this was a Mayan ruin, I was so impressed with this trip. Our guide was an archaeologist. This touched my heart, I could not help but think of the Laminates. This was probably the best part of my vacation. Tulum is the only ancient city on the cliffs next to the ocean. The ocean was such a beautiful turquoise. The pictures do not do it justice.

The remainder of our trip we spent in our resort. We met alot of really fun people, ate, went for long walks, laid and listened to the ocean, went to the clubs relaxed and had a BLAST!!!!

Now we are home and ready to face tomorrow. I have a feeling my desk will be so stacked with papers I won't be able to even see it beneath the work that will be piled up...........so much for the R&R time......bring it on!
